Glossary:Certifier

Print this page

A certifier is the person who completes the medical certificate of cause of death (medical part of the death certificate). In most cases, certifiers are physicians but in some countries they can have other qualifications.

In case of external causes and/or sudden or suspicious death, the certification could be made by a forensic physician or in some countries by legal professionals such as coroners in England, Ireland and Wales.
