Glossary:Satisfaction with the dwelling

Print this page

The indicator Satisfaction with the dwelling, based on the European Union statistics on income and living conditions (EU-SILC) variable HC080 ("Overall satisfaction with the dwelling"), measures individuals' subjective evaluation of their living conditions, focusing on satisfaction with their current dwelling. It assesses the degree of satisfaction with the dwelling in terms of meeting the household’s needs and their opinion of the price (the financial burden related to the main dwelling). This also takes into account the space, neighbourhood, and distance to work, quality of the dwelling and other aspects. The indicator refers to main dwelling only.

The variable is part of the EU-SILC 3-yearly rolling module on Labour Market and Housing, providing insights into housing quality and living standards at European level.
